Introduction

On May 18th, 2024, The University of Law, Hue University, in collaboration with the Da Nang Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office and Tilleke & Gibbins Law Firm (Vietnam), organized the "Creative Student  and Intellectual Property Rights" competition for the 4th time in 2024, with the theme "Vietnamese Students with Intellectual Property Culture in the Digital Economy".

• Also present were heads and deputy heads of departments, offices, and centers under the university, lecturers working at University of Law, Hue University, and over 600 students, members of the competing teams, and audience members.

Opening Remarks

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of University of Law, Hue University, stated that the "Creative Student  and Intellectual Property Rights" competition is an annual event organized by University of Law, Hue University in collaboration with the Da Nang Representative Office of the Intellectual Property Office and Tilleke & Gibbins Law Firm (Vietnam). The 2024 competition was held on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Vietnam's Science and Technology Day. This event aims to raise students' awareness of intellectual property, encourage their creativity and learning spirit, and provide opportunities for networking in the field of intellectual property among universities. It also serves as a platform for sharing experiences and exchanging knowledge among higher education institutions. This competition not only has a significant impact on the participating teams but also stands out as a prominent activity within the Vietnamese Law School Network, with nearly 100 members.

Competition Overview

Continuing the success of the previous three seasons (2021, 2022, 2023), the 4th season of "Creative Student  and Intellectual Property Rights" competition is part of the 2024 activity program of the Vietnamese Law School Network, with the participation of 8 teams from major universities across the country, including:

• University of Law, Hue University

• University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi

• Branch of the National Academy of Public Administration in Quang Nam province

• Da Lat University

• Duy Tan University

• Can Tho University

• Van Lang University

• University of Economics, Da Nang University

The 2024 competition was designed with three main parts:

1. General knowledge about intellectual property rights

2. Creative Student 

3. Connecting with practice

The competition this year has some differences compared to previous seasons. The content focuses on key issues such as: Protection, identification and determination of infringement behavior, exploitation activities, and management of intellectual property rights in cyberspace and in the digital economy.

Awards

Following three rounds of intense competition, the jury announced the winners:

• Encouragement Prizes were awarded to "Tuoi tre Nhan van" (Humanities Youth) from University of Social Sciences and Humanities, "Lawkeys" from University of Economics, Da Nang University, "VLU Pioneers" from Van Lang University, "Napa Law" from Branch of the National Academy of Public Administration in Quang Nam province, and "Reda" from Duy Tan University.

• Third Place went to "Misty Wonders" from Da Lat University.

• Second Place was secured by "That lung Rong" (Dragon belt) from Hue Law University.

• The coveted First Place of the "Student Creativity and Intellectual Property Rights" competition, held for the fourth time in 2024, was awarded to the outstanding "The Kanthor" team from Can Tho University.

The competition ended successfully in a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere.
