Scientific Conference on Research-oriented and Application-oriented Legal training in Vietnam today
Update day: 14-03-2024On March 14, 2024, the Vietnamese Law School Network (VLSN), in coordination with the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, and Van Lang University, hosted an event as part of the 2023 VLSN Annual Conference. The conference served as a platform for dialogue, exchange, and discussion among law schools, focusing on research-oriented and application-oriented legal education aligned with social needs and international practices.
Representatives from seven VLSN Executive Board member institutions were in attendance, including: University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City; University of Law, Hue University; University of Law, Vietnam National University of Hanoi; Hanoi Law University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Law; Can Tho University; and Van Lang University.
Additionally, representatives from other Vietnamese Law School Network members participated, including: Eastern University of Technology; National Academy of Public Administration; Vietnamese Women's Academy; Gia Dinh University; University of Labor and Social Affairs; Banking Academy; Hanoi Open University; Vinh University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH); Ho Chi Minh City Open University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology; University of Economics; University of Danang; Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Hanoi University of Culture; Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; Dai Nam University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance; Nha Trang University; Quy Nhon University; Thang Long University; Hanoi Capital University; Tien Giang University; Ho Chi Minh City Banking University; School of Economics, Law, and State Management; University of Economics.
The conference aimed to explore strategies for integrating theoretical and practical learning in legal education. Presentations examined approaches taken by various member institutions and discussed opportunities to improve training programs. Comparisons were also made to models in other countries. Insights from the event may help Vietnam further develop its legal education system to benefit students, the profession, and society.
The conference included two sessions with presentations on research-oriented and application-oriented legal training programs. Representatives from various universities engaged in constructive exchanges of ideas and experiences. Over 30 quality research papers were selected for introduction in the conference proceedings resume. After the conference, the Organizing Committee led by the University of Law, Hue University, will continue reviewing submissions to select papers for an ISBN-indexed publication.
In his closing remarks, Associate Professor Le Vu Nam of the University of Economics and Law thanked delegates and network members for their collaboration. He expressed hope that this conference would lay the groundwork for more forums to strengthen cooperation between legal education institutions in Vietnam.
